A love letter: From Po to Ka

I want to know how many scars you have

and memorize the shape of your tongue.

I want to climb the curve of your lower back

and count your vertebrae

your ribs

your fingers

your goose bumps.

I want to chart the topography of your anatomy

And be fluent in your body language.

I want you, entire.

 

“I want you, entire.” This reminds me of Kierkegaard’s concept of love: ‎”To love another in spite of his weaknesses and errors and imperfections is not perfect love. No, to love is to find him lovable in spite of and together with his weakness and errors and imperfections.”

Argentina, don’t cry for me

Una, naparami ang buhos ko ng mantika sa kawali. Hindi naman sobrang dami, pero relatibong marami para iluto ang isang lata ng Argentina corned beef na 175 grams (fortified with zinc and iron). Mabigat sa dibdib dahil ang mahal-mahal ng mantika ngayon. Mantakin ba namang P20 ang isang plastic ng mantika, yung maliit na plastic na ginagamit kapag bumibili ng 8 oz na bote ng softdrink. Ang mahal! Bagong taon pa naman, pero ang trend sa presyo ng mga bilihin hindi nagbabago – pataas pa rin!

Tapos edi yun na nga. Bumili rin ako ng bigas na hindi ko naman naluto dahil pag-uwi ko may sinaing na. Bet! Perfect! Pinainitan ko na yun kawali at nag-gisa ng sibuyas bago binuhos yung corned beef. Bigla kong naisip kumuha ng itlog. Sa sobrang kagutuman, sa kawali ko na biniyak yung itlog at dun na rin ini-scramble kasama ng corned beef. Saka ko lang na-realize na parang mali yung ginawa ko. Naalala ko tuloy yung luto ng nanay ni Soleil. Parang ganun din yung ginawa niya. Kaso iba yung hitsura ng corned beef niya pagkatapos maluto.

Anyway, eto na nga yung luto ko. Mukang nakakain naman eh. Di ba? Di ba??
